At IES Blouberg International School, all high school students receive free access to Unifrog, an award-winning online platform designed to support career and university guidance. Under the skilled guidance of our onsite school counsellor, students are taught how to navigate the platform effectively, enabling them to evaluate their interests, aptitudes, and goals. By utilising specialised tools to map out their personality results and work-environment preferences, students gain a holistic understanding of where they will truly thrive. This allows them to explore a wide range of accredited courses with precision. These courses can be completed and added to their personal portfolios, helping their university and future job applications stand out. In addition to their work on Unifrog, students in job shadowing are adding real-world experience to our established skills programme and career counselling pathway.

Our Chess Club sharpens minds and builds focus through fun, friendly games. Open to all skill levels, it encourages strategic thinking, patience, and sportsmanship.
– Debating
As Archbishop Desmond Tutu famously said, “Don’t raise your voice, improve your argument.” The BIS Debating Club invites learners to do exactly that. By joining our junior (Year 8–9) or senior (Year 10–12) teams, students learn the art of constructing powerful, structured arguments and the invaluable skill of thinking on their feet. Working in collaborative teams of three, debaters develop the confidence to explain and defend their ideas while responding sharply to opposing views.
Beyond the classroom, our teams compete in the National Debating League (NDL) against schools across Cape Town. We rotate our debaters to ensure every member gains the exhilarating experience of competitive public speaking. – German Club
The German Club provides an enriching environment for Year 5–7 students to extend their learning beyond the classroom while engaging with the language and culture in a meaningful way. Weekly sessions are designed to promote active participation through a range of structured, hands-on activities, including arts and crafts, interactive games, and short drama exercises, all of which support the development of basic German vocabulary.
Students are introduced to key aspects of German cultural heritage, exploring well-known traditions such as Oktoberfest as well as the enduring folklore of the Brothers Grimm. Elements of traditional cuisine are also incorporated, offering students the opportunity to experience cultural practices through food.
The German Club welcomes both students with an existing interest in German culture and those who are keen to broaden their horizons. It offers a balanced programme of cultural exploration, language exposure, and collaborative learning in an engaging and supportive setting.

A service-based club for High School learners, sponsored by local Rotary Clubs.
– Media Club
Our Media Club gives students hands-on experience in live event production and digital media. Members are responsible for setting up and operating sound equipment, microphones, speakers, and basic lighting for school events, assemblies, and performances. Students also learn audio mixing, stage setup, troubleshooting technical issues, and working as a team behind the scenes. The club builds confidence, technical skills, and a strong understanding of how professional productions come together.
DnD or dungeons and dragons is an action role playing game that is highly dependent on teamwork and creativity, where students can build their own fantasy stories together.

Watch your little one blossom with Tiny Green Fingers! Specifically designed for our Nursery, Pre-Reception, and Reception explorers, this club is a wonderful way for children to connect with the magic of nature.
Through hands-on activities like planting, nurturing, and simple landscaping, our budding gardeners develop a genuine sense of curiosity and responsibility for the world around them. Together, we work as a team to grow and maintain our beautiful sensory garden—a vibrant, living space where young learners can explore, get their hands a little dirty, and watch their hard work grow! It’s the perfect place for little seeds of curiosity to take root.

Give your little explorer the chance to dive into a world of excitement with The Adventure Club! Specifically designed for our Year 1–3 students, this club is all about high-energy team games and interactive challenges. It’s a wonderful space for your child to build lasting friendships and develop essential teamwork skills, all while immersed in an environment centered on pure, unplugged fun.
– Choir
Our school choirs provide students with the opportunity to develop their vocal skills, musicianship, and confidence through regular rehearsals and performances. Choir members learn correct vocal technique, harmony, teamwork, and musical expression while performing a wide range of repertoire. The choir proudly represents the school at concerts, events, and competitions, fostering a strong sense of unity, discipline, and joy in music. We have 3 choirs: Junior choir (Year 2-3), Senior choir (Year 4-7) and High School choir.
– Marimba
Our Marimba programme introduces students to the exciting world of African percussion and ensemble performance. Learners develop rhythm, coordination, listening skills, and teamwork while playing dynamic marimba arrangements. The marimba group performs regularly at school events and festivals and proudly participated in a Guinness World Record attempt for the biggest marimba band ever, showcasing exceptional commitment, unity, and musical excellence while celebrating African musical heritage.

Our Music Ensemble offers students the opportunity to perform in a collaborative group setting, developing instrumental skills, musical confidence, and ensemble awareness. Looking for a way to let your little superhero’s confidence and skills soar? They won’t want to miss The Rascal’s Drum Club! Each week is a new adventure as your child drums their way through beautifully illustrated stories alongside the Rascal friends. It’s an environment where children learn beats, songs, and self-expression on real djembe drums, all while developing motor skills, co-ordination, problem-solving, and boosting their confidence. Best of all, it’s SUPER FUN! and encourages every child to ‘Bee Brave’ and ‘Bee True’ because there’s nobody like them.
– Tots n’pots Cooking Club
Cooking and baking provide the perfect opportunity and combination of fun and creativity, and it’s a great way to teach children about the food they eat. Sensory, taste, smell and sight alongside measuring, weighing and counting ratios offers fun and hands on experience.

We incorporate Lego/Duplo into our lessons. Our curriculum works on Math basics, science concepts, fine motor skills, positioning and ordering, visual memory, patterning, pre-reading, and architectural principles.
– BuildembrixRobotix – 60min sessions
We incorporate classic Lego into our lessons. Structured builds which are motorized, and basic coding of the builds. Our curriculum works on English development, mathematics focus, science experimentation, architectural understanding, geographic exploration, design and technology expansion, programming, and robotics from beginner to advanced levels.

Robokidz offers a wide range of classes that cater to the unique needs an interest of each child.
