The past two weeks Ms. Kiley and I spent most of our days editing and going through the Primary school reports. It brings us much joy to see the progress of each individual student. The personal comments written by the teachers gives us insight into the day to day commitment of both the students and teachers.
On Tuesday evening after work, I decided to get take out instead of cooking. As my daughter and I walked into the restaurant we bumped into one of our pre-reception students. He was so surprised to see his Principal at a restaurant! The first question he asked, “If you are here, who is looking after the school tonight?” I gently explained that I needed to get my family some supper on our way home and that the security looks after the school during the evenings. He proceeded to join us at the table and started asking my 20-year-old daughter why she did not cook, whether she was a teacher and if I was really her mom!
What stood out to me about 5-year-old little Thabelo Magoro was that he was as bold as a lion, courageous in his approach and asked the most inquisitive and intelligent questions. This brought a smile and so much warmth to my heart to see the fearless approach of a young child such as Thabelo.
At Blouberg International we strive to see the differences in our children, the growth, the development that takes place and especially the boldness that shines through. We are dealing with a different generation than before. A generation who have questions and desire answers, a generation who sees and thinks differently.
As teachers we have to teach the children HOW to think and not WHAT to think. The Cambridge Curriculum supports this method of learning and we are looking forward to growing, inspiring and motivating our students to achieve the very best.
Our Junior and Senior choir will partake in the final recording of “Sing en Harmonie” on Friday the 23rd of June. Please remember to vote for our students when the show is aired. We will keep you informed about the dates and time of the show on the DSTV channel.
As we welcome the much needed rain into the weekend, I wish you all a warm and peaceful time with your family.
Warm regards
Edna
