THE PRESIDENTS AWARD

The President’s Award Blouberg International is proud to be entering Year 8 students into The Presidents Award for Youth Empowerment from 2020.
The President’s Award for Youth Empowerment is proudly the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Award in South Africa. It is available to all 14–24 year olds, regardless of their background, culture, physical ability, skills and interests. In South Africa, the Award is endorsed by the Presidency and the National Youth Development Agency (NYDA) as part of the National Youth Service (NYS). Cambridge International believes that the Award provides excellent learning experiences that are complementary to our own programmes and qualifications. Just as Cambridge qualifications enjoy wide recognition, The President’s Award is internationally recognised as evidence that a student has completed an excellent co-curricular programme which will have challenged them and nurtured the development of the Cambridge learner attributes.
The Award is comprised of three levels, Bronze, Silver and Gold, each progressively more challenging.
There are four specific sections to complete:
– Service
– Skills
– Physical Recreation
– Adventurous Journey
What impact does the Award have on a young person? Having your President’s Award (Duke of Edinburgh’s Award) is a valuable asset on tertiary study applications, scholarships and résumés. Whether applying for tertiary study or about to enter the work force, the award shows commitment and achievement, as well as dedication to a variety of activities. It also gives young people an opportunity to talk about themselves and their passions outside of their formal education.
